Love LA 2009

Some of you will remember us excitedly posting about last year’s show, and for those who don’t, well, there’s the link. The shortest way to describe the Love LA show is that it is akin to any other adult show/convention, except without the tawdy sensationalism, or really the porn industry at all. Instead, Ian and Alicia (aka Freddy and Eddy) have put together a high-class event to buy the very in sexual health and education supplies available. I avoid the common shorthand of adult toys, and definitely the taboo word of novelty, because it takes away from the focus of the event, which is helping people have happier, more complete sex lives.

To that end, not only do they edit their list of exhibitors down to only the people whose toys you might brag about owning, but they also run an impressive series of seminars alongside the convention. Last year, I had particularly high praise for Midori’s oral sex workshop.

I bring this up, not only because some other bloggers we know will be crossing our path then, but because I would encourage anyone in Southern California, or who is going to be in Southern California on the 25th of January to go to this event. It’s a great party, with loads of fun to be had, and a rare treasure trove of exceptional pleasure objects to be had. Most of all, not only do I want to see the event of a friend succeed, but I also want to see his quest to change the shape of an industry bear some fruit. In the long term, the hope of shows like Love LA is to separate the sex industry from the cheap, sensationalized, and, most importantly, marginalized aspects of its past, and the best way to do that is by bringing all of the best together.

So, if you can go, do. You can buy your tickets here. (Couples get a discount!)

Thanks Sylvanus.  And I DO plan to be there!!!

  1. Wish this worked into our schedule this year . . . sounds like just the sort of show Nimue and I would love.

Not that we need any help enjoying sex, but, you know.

  2. I won’t be able to attend this simply because of my location.
I did go to the site to browse who was going to be there.
