Email exchange on myspace.
From myspace user: “How do we know those pictures are even you?”
BBG: “Well, I guess you never really know if people are who they appear to be on line. However if I was going to put up pictures of someone else that I wanted people to think was me, I would pick a body that was taller, and probably thinner- don’t you think??”
Myspace user: “Why don’t any of the pictures show your face?”
(This is when it becomes clear that he has ONLY looked at my pictures, and did not read my profile at all.)
BBG: “People from work, I have teenage kids. Mainly, it’s because I am a sex blogger so this page is connected to that site- and it’s important for me to maintain anonymity. I’m sure you can understand that.”
Myspace user: “So what are you looking for?”
(Didn’t he email ME????)
BBG: “Not really ‘looking’ for anything- but always open minded to what might come along. It never hurts to keep my eyes open. What are you looking for, counselor?” (Myspace user is a lawyer- I READ his profile)
Myspace user: “You intrigue me…….I want to see what your face looks like…….”
I did not respond. I was tempted to send him a picture of someone who he may not think was attractive- to see if he was still intrigued. Then I realized that I didn’t want to take the time. Besides, who am I to say what is or isn’t attractive?
I don’t think that I am any stunning beauty. I won’t lie. There are days that I feel attractive enough- but if you are only going to interested in talking to me because you think I’m pretty- well, I’d rather you don’t.
I suspect that most people feel the same way.
