Knocked Up

I won’t say her name cause I don’t want teenagers googling her and ending up here, but you all know who I’m talking about.  The 16-year old sister of the train wreck.  Yikes.

It’s sad and scary to think of the publicity this girl is going to have.  It’s frightening to think that she is going to have to endure the same sort of criticism as her sister, even though pictures of her babies will pay for her college if she decides to go.  What makes me sad is that she is going to have to put on a good and happy face even though she is probably scared to death.  She is going to have to smile for the cameras and tell everyone how excited she is and later how much she LOVES being a mom.  She is probably terrified.  Scared that her life has taken a dramatic turn and terrified that her career may never take off to the level it may have otherwise.

I am also wondering how the media will portray her.  The publicity may backfire and spur lots of teenage girls into thinking that it’s ok to be a teen mom.  It’s not a sin, no- but it definitely is a hard way to spend prom night, JL.

I feel for you JLS.  Your road will not be easy but I beg you to do the right thing.  I’m not asking that you openly REGRET getting pregnant- because maybe you don’t, but I just ask that you, for the sake of your teenage fans, be the role model you can be and don’t encourage teen pregnancy either.

  1. I feel really bad for, I’m in complete shock. I hope she and her baby will do fine.

  3. oy. I think this is an absolute disaster for teenagers. we have a 12 year old that is just gaining a shy interest in young men, but thankfully not the star you mentioned.IN her circumstances it isnt the money that would be aproblem, but her baby deserves two parents (ideally) who love each other and might just maybe make it to the childs graduation hand in hand. Two parents who arent still raising themselves. In the whole abort or birth debate the child is lost in the flames. Adoption should be praised, extolled and revered as the ultimate love a mother can give, when the mother has not the emotional resources and the extended support to raise a child. Because we only whisper about adoption, baby’s are abandoned in freezing dumpsters even in jurisdictions that have safe harbor laws. If she gave this baby up, and then went on a publicity tour of the pain doing that caused her but the love that baby would have, the consequences of early sexulization of children, the lack of good and accurate and unbiased contraceptive advice, and ~shocked~ abstinence, or alternative play…

  4. this is a difficult one to comment on, I think it does shine a light on the fact that teens have sex. There are so many layers to this story, I just wish that it wasn’t so muddied by who the players are. From mom writing a parenting book (cough cough) to a train wreck of a sister, to the fact the guy involved is 19 and may face some charges. What will be lost is the simple fact that we don’t want to be honest about sex and sexuality in this society, especially when it comes to teens. It makes me livid.

  5. This girl is just doing what she see’s her sister is doing. That is, being selfesh with no reguard for anybody but herself. This is a cry for help. There might be other issues and I suggest it might be incest related. Both girls are using the same methord to tell the world that this family has a problem and it goes deeper then girls having sex. The Mother might be an enabler. There is a deeper problem here and I hope that some one can find out what that problem might be. I read between the lines and in this case between the legs. Both of these girls are troubled.
